Gumption. The word conjures visions of Scarlet O’Hara, face smudged with dirt and sweat, shaking her fist to the heavens: “As God is my witness, I will never go hungry again!”
She cared less about appearances and more about proving to the world that the obstacles before her were no match for her fierce determination.
Gumption comes from your soul – it drives your purpose forward by merging determination, will, confidence and grit to stand in the most challenging times and face them head on.
If we have learned anything during COVID-19 and the social upheaval we have witnessed, it is that messy happens and sometimes in REALLY big ways.
Now is not the time to complain and fester. It’s a time for gumption. To look up, see the challenges in our way, face them head on and come out on the other side stronger and better.
It has been said that ‘it isn’t the light at the end of the tunnel – you are the light – shine it now’! That light feels like gumption to me.
What lights your inner pilot light when you’re being tested? I hope you’ll share your thoughts in the comments.
