Values Discovery

Perhaps it was a special vacation or a point in your career when you were particularly successful. Did you know you can often uncover revelations about yourself by examining these best parts of your life in a deeper, more focused way? It’s in these times that you are, perhaps without even realizing it, living your true values. And, by examining the values that were present during those peak times, you can leverage your behavior to create more peak experiences.

This exercise requires a little time and introspection, so we suggest starting when you are in a quiet, relaxed state. It’s perfectly fine to ask for input from others to help you recall your best experiences, but then return to a quiet space alone to finish out the exercise.

  • Using the space below, describe one or two of your peak experiences. Where were you? Who were you with? What were you doing? Be specific as you describe all the details you can remember (i.e., the weather, background sounds, who was with you, etc.) that made this time so special. Peak experiences can happen in both professional and personal aspects of our lives.
